My Idea of Heaven
It’s a lazy Saturday evening, alone, content and relaxed considering the three days off after the weekend. I was going to write this in my journal, but since I’m too lazy to get it, I might as well write it in my blogger. I am alone in my dad’s study room, listening to Patti Page, courtesy of my dad, and the night is descending outside. Soon I will have to go out and turn on the lights, but for now it can wait.
Today I’ve just finished reading a book called “5 people you meet in heaven”. The gist of it was that the writer’s idea about heaven is the place where your life got explained. And so therefore you will meet 5 people whose life intersect with your life in such way that it changed both life. It’s a good book and I will recommend it to anyone, but this piece is not about the book. Selfishly I am going to write about my idea of heaven.I always imagine heaven as a big lazy Sunday lunch with all my beloved ones. On the day I died, I will go up to wherever heaven is and I will be greeted by one of the angels. He’ll then bring me to a little house overlooking a stream, with wildflowers and green grass encircling it. In there, there’ll be a big long table facing the window, with white table cloth, and laden with food. Not fancy food, just everyday food, like rice, chickens, vegie, fruits. No candles, no silverware, no expensive chinas. There will be white plates, the ones from my childhood, and the punchbowl half full with cordial and canned fruits. When me and the angel reach the door, I can hear boisterous laughter from inside, and happy chattering. It would seems that whoever inside are having a blast, on a friendly lunch table. The angel will then open the door, and the people on the lunch table will stop their chattering and lookup, to see who’ve arrived. Their faces would break up into a big smile, and all at once they’ll greet me. “Finally, you’ve arrived, hi, how was the trip? Come on have lunch”, they’ll say to me. When I draw nearer I’ll see my dad grinning, and holding a piece of chicken, and saving me a place beside him. He’ll give me a bear like hug and kiss me. And at that time everyone are looking at us, but soon afterwards they’ll start chattering again, and we’d all be a happy big family having a lazy Sunday lunch.
